There is Hope

If you are like me, you look around and find it hard to believe your eyes.  Our nation is spiraling downward at an ever increasing rate.  How could this be happening?  What is going on!  How did we get here so quickly?

If you were born in the 1980’s or later, some of you may be thinking, “What’s the big deal?  This is just life.”  This downward trend may be all you have ever known.  It’s “normal” to you.  If you are a bit older, you know what America used to be like.  Of course it was not perfect and never has been.  But the land we now live in barely resembles the great nation that is once was.

Is it going to get better?  I doubt it.  Will it get worse?  It will very likely get much, much worse.  In just the past few years, our nation has literally been transformed before our eyes. The rate at which things are changing for the worse is staggering.

Please go to About Us to see who we are and why we created this site.

If you consider yourself to be conservative, then you have some idea what we are talking about.  If you are an informed conservative, then you probably understand exactly what we are talking about.  If you are an informed conservative Christian, then you probably know where we are going with this.

I said that there is hope.  There are actually two things to hope for.  The first is hope for our nation.  The second is hope for you, personally.  I will address the most important one first.

Hope for you

We believe the Bible is true.  We believe the events foretold in the Bible will occur just as stated.  We believe those events are occurring.  If you are familiar with Bible prophecy, then you know it says that God will finally put an end to all the suffering and evil in the world.  On that day, you will either be with God or against God.  There is no middle ground.  Jesus was very clear when he said in Luke 11:23 “He who is not with Me is against Me.”

Many people believe that as long as their good deeds outweigh the bad, then they will be okay.  We can all think of people who are worse than us and we naturally choose to think that God will grade on the curve.  I have news for you:

Heaven is not your default destination.

Many have heard John 3:16, but what about the two verses that follow:

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:16-18

Mankind was uniquely created “in the image of God”.  He gave us an eternal soul that will live on forever.  Every one of us is under judgment by default.  So unless we make a conscious decision to believe what God has told us and to follow him, we will live on for eternity… under judgment, separated from God and all that is good for all time!

We are told to be ready ahead of time. There will be no last minute decisions.  You need to choose now.  Jesus stated in Matthew 24:42 “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.”  And also in Matthew 24:44 “For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.”

Hope for our Nation

Each day there is a flood of news that is shocking, discouraging, and downright depressing.  Most of this news however, is downplayed or just not carried by the main stream media.  Polls have shown that the vast majority of Americans believe that our nation is going in the wrong direction.  We all know that something is wrong.  Americans differ however, on what they believe is the cause and the solution.

Can our nation be restored to its greatness and goodness?  The answer is a resounding YES!  It is possible.

Our nation was founded by godly men and women, based on Christian principles from the Bible.  You can search the web and find sites that claim for various reasons that what I just said is not true.  Those making such claims are ignorant of the facts, either willingly or unwillingly.  Many of those persons making such claims are a product of our modern education system, so it’s not totally their fault.  Our Christian heritage has been almost entirely scrubbed from modern American History textbooks.  It is also being denied by most institutions that are in positions of power and influence such as the media,  the government and our education system.

Fortunately, the personal writings of our nation’s founders, along with innumerable government documents provide ample, incontrovertible proof of our Christian heritage.  If time permits, some of that evidence may be included on this site.  There are however, many, many other sites on the internet which provide this information.  If one is to be intellectually honest, there can be no debate about the facts.  I have more respect for a person who says they want nothing to do with religion or God and desire to eradicate both from our nation, than I do for someone who denies the fact that we are (or at least were) a Christian nation, based upon biblical precepts.

Much of the good in our nation is due the Christian influence of millions of Americans.  I can’t remember where I heard the following example, but consider this:

Imagine you are driving through a bad part of town at night, when your car breaks down.  You don’t have your cell phone, and have no way to contact anyone.  The dark streets are mostly empty, so you decide to start walking in order to find a gas station or convenience store… any public place offering a measure of safety where you can try to get help.  You walk for a block, and then two.  As you come to a particularly secluded spot, five large men step out from the shadows, walking toward you.  Your heart stops!  Wouldn’t you be relieved to see that they were all carrying bibles under their arm, on their way to a bible study?

The point is this: Whether you are deeply religious or an atheist, or somewhere in between, you know you would be relieved, because you would have nothing to fear from them.  They would probably even help you out.  Yet, Christians are now routinely portrayed as being extremists and a threat to national security.  (If you don’t believe that, just check out many of the news articles on this site.)

So let’s get to the hope…

The only real way to stop our nation’s decline is for God to step in.  God promises that if we are faithful to Him, then He will be faithful to us and provide blessings. (This is where some well meaning Christians step in and say that the Bible references that I am alluding to are not specifically talking about America.  It doesn’t matter.  The principle is still the same.  God is faithful and blesses those who follow Him.  He does not change.)  I believe the Bible is true.  We can be faithful to Him by following His word.  Jesus stated that there are two commandments that are greater than ALL the others.  So what could be more important than following those two commandments?

One of the scribes came and… asked Him, “What commandment is the foremost of all?” Jesus answered, “The foremost is, ‘Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is one Lord; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”  Mark 12:28-31

So in a nutshell, Jesus is saying to love God and love your neighbor, and that there are no other commandments greater than these!  I think we all get the first one.  But what about the second one?  Loving our neighbor as much as ourselves is the second greatest commandment there is! Wow!

So how do we love our neighbor as ourselves?  If we really want to love our neighbor as God commands, then we want what is best for them.  We want what is best for society as a whole, because a healthy society provides a benefit to all.  Our society is crumbling down around us.  We have a unique advantage and responsibility, because America is a government “of the people, by the people, for the people”.  Unlike other countries, we are self-governed.  As such, it is our responsibility to take part in our political system.  (This is the part where those same well-meaning Christians say that we are not supposed to be a part of this world system, but are just supposed to love people and share the gospel.)  I ask you, what better way is there to love our neighbor in America than to exercise our right and responsibility to be a part of the political process.  So then, among other things, I contend that we should be out there voting.  We should be signing petitions, contacting our congressman, and taking a stand against the things that God says are evil… things like abortion, infidelity, homosexuality, racism, etc.  All of these things are causing the destruction of our society.  Even if there were no God, I submit to you that by loving your neighbor as described above, our society would be better for it.

But there is a God, and he expects us to be active in doing what He says.  Only when we step up to the plate and get involved will we see the hand of God moving to reverse the course that our nation is on.

There is another story that goes like this:

There was a man who was told to evacuate his home because a flood was coming.  He responded that he was not worried because God would protect him.  So he remained where he was.  Sure enough a flood came.  Someone drove up in a 4-wheel drive and said, “Come with me and I’ll drive you to safety.”  He responded, “No thanks, God will take care of me.”  The water continued to rise and flooded the lower level of his house.  As he stood on the 2nd floor balcony, a man in a boat came by and said, “Get in the boat and I’ll take you to safety.”  Again the man replied, “No thanks, God will take care of me.”  The water continued to rise and the man was forced to climb onto the rooftop. About that time a helicopter flew over.  The pilot yelled to the man to climb aboard so he could be saved.  For the third time the man refused help saying, “No thanks, God will save me.”  Eventually the water rose above the roof and the man was drowned.  When he got to heaven he said, “God, I don’t understand.  I trusted you to save me from the flood.  Why didn’t you save me?”  God replied, “I sent you a truck, a boat, and a helicopter.  What more could I do?”

The point of the story is that God does work, sometimes miraculously.  But most of the time He expects us to use our brain and our abilities to do our part.  If we squander the incredible opportunity that He has given us to govern ourselves, we should not expect a good outcome.  So get involved.  Make a difference.  Don’t expect God to miraculously put our nation back on track if you are unwilling to love your neighbor by getting informed, voting for good laws, voting against bad laws, letting your voice be heard, and helping to elect good men who respect God and will govern accordingly.
